Do Beta blockers reduce cardiac events from surgery

PJ Devereaux, who is the chief investigator for the POISE study, presents the data from 22 trials about tis topic. His conclusion is that the evidence is too unreliable to recommend treatment with beta-blockers for surgical patients that have cardiac disease undergoing non-cardiac surgery. This is in contrast to the AHA/ACC guideline update that this appended after completion.
